A Bottle That Builds a Farm: Why Dark Acre Is Our Future
We're changing the way we fund The Mini Farm Project.
For years, charities have relied on one thing: asking people to donate. We're not walking away from that — but we've realised there's a better way to build something that lasts. Instead of asking for money, we're building products people already want to buy, and letting every sale do the work a donation would.
That's the whole idea behind Dark Acre.
What Is Dark Acre?
Dark Acre is our distilled coffee liqueur, made in partnership with Six Fathoms Distillery using our own Farmhouse Brew blend — the most popular coffee in our Mini Farm Coffee range, sourced through our partnership with Coffee Commune, Queensland's best coffee.
It's not a side project. Dark Acre has already been recognised with a Gold Medal at the London Spirits Awards — proof that this isn't just a good cause, it's a genuinely excellent product that stands on its own.
Every bottle sold creates 10 meals for Australian families and children experiencing food insecurity.
Our New Strategic Direction
We're shifting our focus. Rather than building The Mini Farm Project around donations alone, we're doubling down on philanthropic product partnerships — real businesses, real products, and real partners like Six Fathoms Distillery and Coffee Commune, who've chosen to build their success alongside ours.
This is a different model of charity. No one has to give anything away. They just have to buy a bottle of something they were going to buy anyway — and choose ours.
The Number That Changes Everything
If we sell 100,000 bottles of Dark Acre nationwide, we can fully fund our next Youth Training Farm at Woodstock for three full years.
That's a 10-acre farm. That's a Certificate II Horticulture training pathway for disengaged young people. That's fresh food going out to families who need it — funded entirely by people choosing a great coffee liqueur over the alternative on the shelf.
Same spend. Real impact. No donation required.
Why This Partnership Matters
Six Fathoms Distillery didn't have to get behind a charity's product. They chose to. Their craft, combined with our Farmhouse Brew blend, is what makes Dark Acre something people would buy regardless of the mission — and that's exactly the point. A philanthropic product only works if it's good enough to compete on its own merits. Dark Acre is.
The same goes for Coffee Commune, who bring genuine quality — Queensland's best coffee — into everything we do, from the bag to the bottle.
A Refined Drink, Enjoyed Responsibly
Dark Acre is made for adults who appreciate a well-crafted drink — the kind you pour slowly, not skull. We ask that you enjoy it responsibly, and that it stays firmly in the hands of those 18 and over.
Dark Acre is only available through Six Fathoms Distillery, and selected venues and retailers licensed to sell alcohol.
Get Behind It
Head to www.darkacre.com.au to order your bottle of Dark Acre and be part of funding Woodstock.
And keep an eye on our homepage at mfp.org.au for updates as we roll this strategy out further — more products, more partners, more farms funded the same way.
This is how we build a charity that doesn't have to keep asking.
